How did you get into DJing?
I wanted to be a DJ since I was 4 . I listened to the radio and loved the way sounds were blended together. When I was 17, I got my first DJ gear paid with my summer job, started to do small birthday parties and everything started from there
Where was your first ever gig? I don’t remember the exact date, but I think it was one of my best friend’s birthday parties. Probably March 2008
What drew you into a career as a DJ and music producer? I was fascinating by the way tracks were mixed together. I downloaded a software (Virtual DJ) and started to play around with it. I am kind of a geek and spent hours in mixing tracks on the software and creating long mixes. That was before I actually bought my first DJ gear. Getting into music production is kind of a consequence of being a DJ and being a music producer. At some point you feel the need to express yourself in ways more than what you can do with just your DJ gear. So, doing mashups and remixes was the first step before getting actually into music production and sound designing.
What is your favourite house genre? I grew up with EDM, Progressive House but recently I am moved more into a mix between Deep House and Melodic Techno. In one hand I love melodies, chords and emotional breakdown, in the other, the more minimalistic the drop is the better.
As a DJ what house genre do you specialise in Deep House, Progressive House.
How did you start producing and what gave you the motivation to keep going with it?
I started producing in 2016, after years of practicing with Ableton. I was just interested in software and how music was made so I started to play around and tried to get better and better with it. It’s hard to keep your motivation going most of the time. But like for all the things, you need to love what you do, or at least to like it enough to spend a ridiculous amount of hours in it. Most of the time I produce only when I feel I want to produce and take breaks (also long ones) when I don’t feel like. Motivation in music production it’s not an ongoing thing unfortunately but when the creativity kicks in your mind is wide open.
How would you describe the music you produce? I produce a hybrid genre mixing pop vocals, deep house and melodic techno elements. I would describe it as pop melodic house maybe
What is the name of the next track you have coming out? release date?
I am working at the moment with a couple of singers on a new track. I haven’t decided the name yet and the release date, but hopefully for the end of September we can wrap this project up.
Do you play any musical instruments? I play a bit of percussions (Bongos) and I have a really basic knowledge of piano, although I can’t play it
Who would you like to collaborate with as a producer and why?
The list is quite long and goes from more famous producers to less famous ones. I like to collaborate because together you can come up with ideas that you wouldn’t have thought of if you were by yourself
What is your favourite festival of all time? I guess Tomorrowland, for the variety of choice, although I have never been there
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Don’t compare your life with other people’s life. It’s pointless as everyone has a different starting point in their career and it takes energy from your life, energy that you can spend on yourself
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I would like to see less show and more quality behind the decks. In my opinion only DJs that know what they are doing and at the same time can promote themselves should be allow to play.
If you were talking to a younger version of you, what career advice would you give yourself?
The music industry is a tough one however I am happy to be part of it. I would tell him to focus more on marketing, start to get mixes out there, contacting more radio stations and so on. Basically, anything that I am telling myself daily nowadays.
What’s your favourite animal and why?
I think dogs are my favourite as they understand you and you, they love you as much as you can love them
What do you like about working with Exigo Records and JW DJ Agency
We have a direction. All of us are experts in the industry and driven to achieve higher goals.
