Gully B

Gully B

GULLY B is a dynamic DJ and radio host from Southend-on-Sea, renowned for his electrifying sets that blend dancehall, soca, and bass-heavy genres. His journey began in 2007, transitioning from an avid vinyl collector into a DJ who played electro remixes of indie B-sides, contributing to the nu-rave movement. His early gigs included sneaking into clubs with a record box, claiming DJ status to bypass age restrictions.

At 18, he received his first pair of Technics 1210s, leading to the creation of ‘Ramadance,’ a club night in Southend focusing on rave music like drum and bass, dubstep, electro, and breaks. This platform introduced talents such as The Boog-A-Loo Crew (later known as Dark Sky) and Funtcase.

By 19, GULLY B became a resident DJ at Southend’s largest nightclub and co-founded ‘Diz-Ko,’ the Southeast’s premier rave event, featuring artists like Chase & Status, DJ Fresh, NERO, and Shy FX. This success led to a Fabric takeover alongside Skream and Redlight and hosting Diz-Ko stages at various UK festivals.

In 2013, his passion for reggae and heavy basslines birthed the GULLY B project. Facing resistance to dancehall music in non-London clubs, he innovatively launched ‘Pull Up!’ events by booking venues under the guise of private parties, installing his own sound systems to create indoor carnivals. ‘Pull Up!’ evolved into a stage at Neverworld Festival, featuring artists like David Rodigan, Shy FX, and Wookie.

GULLY B’s radio career flourished with a six-year tenure on Reprezent Radio’s Friday drive-time slot, hosting guests such as Shaggy, Shenseea, Skillibeng, Mr. Vegas, Konshens, Kranium, and WSTRN. His radio presence extended to guest DJ spots for Mistajam on BBC Radio 1, Reece Parkinson on 1Xtra, Ellie Prohan on Kiss FM, and a two-hour show on KissFresh.

His performances have graced venues like Fabric, Studio 338, XOYO (for Andy C’s residency), and festivals including Strawberries & Creem, Hackney Reggae Festival, East Beach Festival, and Camp Wildfire. In 2018, he achieved a career milestone by becoming the resident DJ for the Pure Lime Chocolate Mas truck at Notting Hill Carnival.

In 2019, GULLY B produced his first official remix for General Levy & Vital Techniques, receiving airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and earning a nomination for Best DJ at the Caribbean Afro Music Awards. During the 2020-2021 lockdowns, he continued his Reprezent Radio show, featuring high-profile guests and maintaining a strong connection with his audience.

Recent highlights include DJing for Morgan Heritage’s album launch in 2023, serving as the official DJ for Grammy-winning artist Kabaka Pyramid’s UK event, debuting at Reggaeland Festival in 2024 alongside Shabba Ranks, Koffee, and Popcaan, and supporting David Rodigan at the inaugural Lazyday Festival in Southend-on-Sea.

Beyond the decks, GULLY B has over a decade of experience in music marketing, working with esteemed labels like RAM Records, Polydor Records (Universal), Champion Records, Madhouse Records, Madtech Records, and Seani B’s BrukOut Records.
