Soren

Soren

There are few saxophonists that have the versatility to stretch themselves across many genres and an ever-changing number of moods. Soren Chakrabarti is one such musician who can lay claim to being an artist who can work in the very contemporary House scene and also in areas such as Jazz, Blues and Lounge.

Classically trained with a Jazz Degree from the Royal Welsh College, arguably the free roaming and most difficult musical artform has given him the ability to seamlessly shapeshift between styles. Earning his stripes across Europe working with both bands and DJs at events such as Weddings, Bars and Festivals, he cannot be pigeonholed. His performances are dynamic embellished by an impeccable technique which all audiences reward with rapturous applause.

From appearances at the Isle of Wight Festival, In It Together Festival and the International Military Tattoo at NIA Birmingham, to his residencies at the Mocka Lounge and Lo Lounge in Cardiff, he certainly knows how to put on a show. Not only as an artist but also as an event organiser and promoter for his own Hip Hop/Neo Soul night Paradox.

Influenced by Braxton Cook, Bob Reynolds, and Maurice Brown on the Sax and House Music icons Disclosure and Fisher in the groove, Soren certainly has the skills to add so much colour to the night. Effortlessly navigating through intricate improvisations while infusing performances with a distinct sense of soulfulness and emotion, everything he brings to the performance arena is sheer class.

In the recording studio as a composer, arranger or as part of a collaborative group, he brings fresh perspectives to the creative process that pushes the boundaries of accepted norms. A seductive combination of tone and breath, he generates passion and longing with each sultry note. Coaxing out melodies that dance like lovers under a moonlit sky or a dance narrative that impels clubbers to hit the floor, there is nothing beyond his imagination.

No matter the environment, style or beat of your drum, Soren Chakrabarti is the sax player for you. Whether it be the complex polyrhythms, and spontaneous improvisation of Jazz or the four on the floor syncopated offerings off House Music, he can deliver on all fronts.
