Sollie
Backed by humble beginnings, slick versatility, and an unquestionable connection to the music, DJ Sollie is one of the UK’s longest-standing and most respected names.
The live-show veteran has graced the stages of renowned venues and events across the globe. From early beginnings, the fast-rising 90’s garage scene quickly drew his affection. House parties and pirate radio stations soon paved the way for a life-long desire to kick-start the nation’s nights out with style.
Small club nights evolved into some of the UK’s biggest events, followed by a four-year residency in Ayia-Napa, and numerous DJ battles in Dubai. Throw in a plethora of Ibiza pool parties and club nights across the US, and his expertise inevitably delivered blissful good vibes to any and all dance-floors.
In 2006, Sollie won his 7th consecutive Hip Hop battle in Dubai. Fully enveloped in music, producing for artists on the side of performing, Sollie achieved chart success on Sky Music’s Channel U – his 2007 release ‘Feeling’ Me’ peaked at number 2, and made it to the channel’s compilation album the following year.
Later on, a chance Twitter interaction prompted a meet-up with So Solid’s Asher D (Ashley Walters), and the newly formed duo immediately took to stages across Europe and laid down a multitude of original tracks in the studio. In the same era, London’s biggest Pirate radio station Flex FM geared up for a massive re-launch, and 2009 saw Sollie bag an early morning Saturday slot to kick off yet another chapter in his journey.
Over time, with his passion and energy faultlessly raising the bar, the 8am timeslot progressed to more audience-savvy hour. Proving that hard work and patience are essential alongside talent and skill, Sollie and Asher D eventually earned the 10pm to Midnight show on Saturday nights; and held the role for the next twelve months.
With Asher D’s TV and film career picking up speed, more opportunities naturally emerged for the duo to perform. Their time on the road left them unable to maintain the peak Flex timeslot, so they stepped back to 4pm, and held this up for six years; until Flex FM as a pirate station came to an end.
Fast-forward to 2018, times had changed but the building blocks remained. Sollie stepped back up to the stage for Flex’s re-launch, securing a prime time 6-8pm slot with his Friday Night House Party. He also joined forces with Miss L.A for the renowned Mid-Morning Madness Show.
In the same year, Sollie made his fifth consecutive appearance on the Ibiza summer scene, and marked his fourth year as a Saturday night resident for Covent Garden’s exclusive Be At One.
This same year, Sollie broadcasted a radio show live from the Eastern Electrics Festival, and headed back out on the road for a nationwide tour with Asher D.
The duo took full command of 2019, tearing up venues and raves across the UK, forever balancing chemistry and presence, with unwavering ability and knowledge honed over 20 years being fully immersed in the industry.
Always on the cusp of something bigger, the future is set to see DJ Sollie create even greater waves across the global music scene.
